- Estimate the length of fencing you are looking to replace by using a tape measure, counting existing panels or counting steps.
- Is there an existing fence that needs to be removed and recycled? Determine if you want to handle this task yourself or have the installation company do it. We charge a very low cost to do this. Our installation team has all the right tools for the job and handles it quickly.
- Identify your priorities. Are you looking for good quality products, sturdy construction and professional installation or are you looking for the lowest cost? If you are looking for a quality, professional installation, we are a good fit for you. If you are looking for the lowest cost option, consider buying supplies from us and doing the job yourself.
- Determine the style, height, colour (for steel fencing) and grade/quality of fence you are looking for. Our website has a large amount of pictures to assist you with this step.
- Make notes on any gates to be replaced, trees, plants or other obstructions that may impact the new fence installation. Are there areas where elevation changes along the fence line or between yards may affect the fence installation?
- Determine if you want the fence installed down to the ground with minimal gaps (best if you or your neighbours have small pets) or if you would like the fence installed slightly off the ground (best for a wood fence if you are most concerned about fence longevity). Another factor to consider is how level you want the top of the fence line to be. Depending on the contours of your yard, this can be easy or very costly to achieve. We can handle just about any installation requirements you may have. If we don’t believe we are the best company to handle your needs, we will suggest some other options for you.
- This is a good time to consult with neighbours, spouses, etc about potential cost sharing, budgets, timing and fence details.
